Movement of Rubber Markets

Both rubber futures and physical rubber markets were bullish during the week, even though their prices ended lower on Friday because crude oil futures retreated and investors sold rubber futures contracts for profit-taking. Nevertheless, firm demand and uncertain supply of natural rubber caused by erratic weather in the region and an improvement in the global economy will pull up rubber prices through 3Q09. The table below shows a rise in rubber prices across the board on Friday 14 August compared with an earlier Friday.
